two things could be true at once. but before I go to address the point, we need to agree on one thing: that decentralization is a spectrum, not a switch like 0 or 1, more like 0 to 100 (where 0 is most centralized, and 100 is the most decentralized). If you don't agree on that point, then reading this will be worthless. yes, I agree that ETH L2 is less secure for now, BUT they have a roadmap to decentralize further. yes, I also agree that even though the L2 reached their final stage of decentralization, they are still more decentralized than, say, Solana. Having said that, I think there is room to build apps on top of L2s; on top of that, it could be like a testing bed for an app to test itself before going to an app chain, or even cloud chain thesis (Eigen Layer). If you could think of L1/L2 like countries or cities, it is so obvious that maybe every city or country has a different level of democracy (centralization/decentralization).
Do not use ETH L2s! As they are all insecure, centralized & dangerous, ETH's "L2 scaling" roadmap has failed ETH is now a platform for building centralized services... Using scalable L1s such as SOL, SUI, or NEAR today is WAY more decentralized & secure compared to any L2! 🔥
