okay so we have a working prototype now :)
thanks @notpopnad you’re the goat.
so basically, how it works is:
- you stake $MON
- you get $CMON a token backed 1:1 w MON (but no inherent trading value outside of governance)
- your $CMON is put to use and the APR generated is what’s gonna be the capital used for the good cause.
…
personally, i like this setup cos it’s easier to give if you’re giving from profit rather than capital.
also, you can unstake your capital whenever after a 7-day cool down period.
…
some things that needs to be worked on:
> how exactly governance over yield usage would work
> how exactly sustainable and decent yield would be generated for the DAO without over exposure of capital
…
some risks i can think of:
> smart contract risks
…
early stages anyways, and it’s cool to see Popnad (ily) bring this to life, would love to see more people use this on testnet so we actually get to see how far this idea can go.
you can try it here and give your feedbacks!
my hope is - as Monad as empowered a lot as *stakeholders*, many would use their stake to do good in the world.

rough idea (might do it if I’ve the time or capacity to, but ok if someone else does too)
a charity DAO powered by the Monad community. decentralized charity fund?
not a dev, so dunno the exact mechanics ngl - but something like a smart contract governance logic where you can use real money ($MON in this case) to buy your way into the DAO.
every buy-in adds more liquidity to the DAO and gives you an untradable token (so no speculative gimmicks) that simply grants you governance power to vote on how funds are to be allocated.
any holder regardless of share size, can raise a vote anytime on a cause they believe the DAO should support, how much to allocate, and everyone else votes on it.
the DAO will be primarily denominated in $MON as its currency and only trades $MON for $USDC whenever there’s a cause the DAO agree on.
the core aim: charity, helping the needy without intermediaries or personal control.
no one person can override the system (smart contract hardcoded).
your influence is purely proportional to how much you’ve put in.
skin in the game = weight in decision-making.
also one think I’ve thought about is allowing for anonymous donations too where people can donate to the DAO w/o wallet dox but in this case you get no governance token.
…
maybe I’m just spiritual, but i think stuff like this could bring a lot of unseen goodwill around Monad. a community-driven force for good, that’s actually onchain, fully transparent, and human.
use crypto at its core (ideological and practical) to shine light on the real world.
